As the countdown to Santa Clara, California, is underway, Super Bowl LX is set to be hosted in Levi’s Stadium to showcase a matchup between the two best teams in the league.
It is always a must-see yearly event, bringing so many people together to watch the game. From predictions for the game to food and drinks and entertainment such as advertising and the halftime show, the Super Bowl is highly anticipated.
Speculation arose regarding who would perform at halftime for Super Bowl LX, with popular artists like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Adele rumored to be the main headliners. Nobody knew what would happen.
Everything changed on Sep 28, 2025. Here, the NFL announced during halftime of the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys game that Bad Bunny would be the headliner for Super Bowl LX.
Previously, Bad Bunny performed as a surprise guest during Super Bowl LIV, joining Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
However, it was still a historic announcement, as Bad Bunny became the first Latin male artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.
He joins Lopez, Shakira, Bruno Mars, and Christina Aguilera as the only Latin artists to headline the halftime show.
Other Latin artists, such as J Balvin, Gustavo Dudamel and the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Taboo from The Black Eyed Peas, and Arturo Sandoval, have performed in the Super Bowl but were featured as surprise guests.
Sophomore special education major Blanca Ferrufino Gomez was excited after being informed by her sister about Bad Bunny’s halftime show performance.
“She called me and told me that he was going to be performing…. I was so excited and I still am. I just know it’s gonna be a great performance. I hope he sings ‘BAILE INoLVIDABLE,” said Ferrufino Gomez.
Ferrufino Gomez also highlighted that the announcement was a way to speak up in regard to recent issues in the Latin community.
“Him being the performer speaks volumes to what is happening to my community right now,” Ferrufino Gomez said. “The administration is trying to silence the voice of my community, but this announcement showcased that we won’t be silenced.”
Bunny will perform on Sunday, Feb 8, 2026, for the halftime show, as the countdown continues to come closer to the biggest event in the NFL.
