Ten铆an

Vivi贸 en

The transition between Ecuador and the U.S. was not easy for Vinueza or his family. His mom

had to switch occupations which Vineza says was difficult to see.

Vineuza.

While he was in Ecuador's capital, he sought out finding his identity. This inspired him to

socialize more and in his last year of high school, he began to embrace his various identities,

including being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Nonetheless, he has persevered despite having to start over. Vineuza is a history and

anthropology double major and is pursuing a minor in law and society.

鈥淚 was super excited to move to university because I am a first-generation college student... the

experience here has been challenging as well as rewarding, everything I learn I build on all the

time,鈥 said Vinueza.

He is a full-time student and works full-time as well. Vinueza says that balancing both is

difficult. He wanted to immerse himself in the Latino and LGBTQ+ community on campus but

wasn't able to.

鈥淚 know that I lost part of the university experience. When I was a kid, everything that is shown

in the movies, all the experiences in the university, I wanted to see it here but unfortunately, I

wasn't able to, it鈥檚 not because I wanted to, it's because I couldn鈥檛,鈥 said Vinueza.

He is also looking to apply to additional internships to

gain more experience in his field.

fundamental鈥, dijo Vinueza.
