With the arrival of summer, Latinos are finally defrosting. The sun shines brighter and the music starts getting louder, quite literally. As we start approaching the end of the semester, it seems like artists have gathered together and decided to go on tour and bring some of the Latino flavor to the U.S.Â
Surprisingly, this year Maryland has been one of the top choices for concert locations.Â
Popular sites like CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Maryland will be welcoming CarĂn LeĂłn and the iconic queen of Latin pop Shakira in July.Â
Neighboring venues in D.C., such as The Anthem, will also be receiving artists Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso on their FREE SPIRITS WORLD TOUR in June.Â
Smaller locations are not missing the fun either, with The Theater at MGM National Harbor presenting rising Puerto Rican star Omar Courtz, Kany Garcia, and the Venezuelan band Rawayana during September to November.
From folk Latino music to “trippy pop,” a mix of reggae, funk, soul, rock and Caribbean rhythms, it seems there is a piece for everybody. Para gustos, los colores – there are as many tastes as there are people.Â
However, if you are a free soul and up for an adventure beyond the DMV, what's better than a community event to create long-lasting memories and enjoy the sunny weather?Â
A festival.Â
Considered the Latino Coachella, Sueños Music Festival is an initiative to empower and uplift the Latino community. According to their website, the festival goes beyond just being a celebration of culture; it is about supporting one another and making a positive difference in the lives of people who need it.Â
This year, the event will be happening in one of the cities with the largest Latino population in the U.S., Chicago at Grant Park, on May 23 and 24.Â
Now you know where to go if you want to spend two days enjoying the performances by artists from all over Latin America.Â
Passes are still available for purchase but expected to sell out in the following weeks, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to join one of the biggest Latino celebrations in the country.
This summer Latinos are taking over, bringing their energy, love and representation just in time to add some color to our lives after working hard during the semester.Â
Although these shows are mainly to entertain, the visit of these artists demonstrates that Latino presence is stronger than ever, delivering a message of resilience that in delicate times like these brings hope and unity to our community.
